Vegan Baba Ganoush

Yesterday, I needed something to make quick for dinner.  We didn’t have much in the fridge, but some friends gave us some eggplant.  I made baba ganoush.

I know that may not be spelled right, but there seems to be some disagreement as to how to spell it and I chose this one.

Now if you are wondering if I cooked it naked, well the answer is hell yes!  I nearly always cook naked, well other than an apron to protect vital parts!

Anyway, back to the baba ganoush, It was super simple.  Wash and dry the eggplant.  Throw it in a crockpot for three hours, take it out, throw it in a blender minus the skin, add lemon, tahini, garlic, salt, and blend.  Baba ganoush!

I didn’t make this up on my own, I got it from someone’s website.  Here’s the link.

If you don’t know what baba ganoush is, well, it’s sort of like hummus.  I like it a little on the tart side so I went with a bit more lemon.

To be honest, I love the stuff so much that I just took a break and ate about ten Garden Herb crackers dipped in the stuff!  By the Goddess/God/Great Spirit, or however you see the divine, that shit is good!

The first time I had baba ganoush, my wife and I were at a water polo game of my daughter’s.  We were waiting for the game to begin and we wandered into this little restaurant.  We asked the waitress what was good and she suggested baba ganoush.  We damned near didn’t make it to the game!

Now I know some of you are pansies and don’t like this kind of thing.  Hummus makes you gag or some such nonsense.  Well, don’t be such a chicken.  Go to that website I gave you the link to and follow her recipe!  If you don’t like this stuff, well, just mail it to me.  I’m sure it will make it!
