A part of me, however, cannot help but think that nudity is being used to exploit, well, nudity. Is it a coincidence that a beautiful, naked woman is featured on the cover? The marketing department is well aware of their target audience.
Why aren’t they featuring, say, a sumo wrestler or bowler? Are these athletes not worthy of praise because they lack six-pack abs? Are we perhaps letting people know that it’s okay to be nude as long as you’re in exceptional shape?
Perhaps if Michael Phelps or Hope Solo were regular nudists touting the benefits of this healthy lifestyle Americans would be more open to accepting this as normal. Unfortunately, however, it’s almost always a one-time thing.
