The TSJC backs ban on nudity in Barcelona
The Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has endorsed a ban on nudity in public spaces of Barcelona and seminudisme where not authorized. The Court finds that the City’s ability to regulate nudity as impacts on local living. Thus, the need to maintain public order and peaceful coexistence prevails over freedom of belief, as stated in the judgment.
The court also dismissed the appeal by the Bid Unit Popoular (CUP), the Association for the Defense of the Right to Nudity and the Spanish Federation of Naturalists, who had argued that the Council had no legal cover sufficient to prohibit and Punish nudism.
