With the approaching outdoor nude season on the horizon, I grow anxious to be outside nude in the sun. As a society, it’s time to STOP being naked and afraid! Not to be confused with the reality television series on the Discovery Channel Naked and Afraid; however, it fits my mood and theme of this entry in my blog! I don’t know when I actually stopped feeling “naked and afraid,” but it was definitely one of my proudest and defining moments in life. Gymnophobia is a fear of nudity. Gymnophobics experience anxiety from nudity, even if they realize their fear is irrational. They may worry about seeing others naked or being seen naked, or both. Their fear may stem from a general anxiety about sexuality, from a fear that they are physically inferior, or from a fear that their nakedness leaves them exposed and unprotected. We must stop being naked and afraid!
