Day 14 clothesfreelife.com Just Be Clothes Free Yoga Challenge
Just Be Honest
I express honestly in a Wide-Legged Forward Fold. Whenever I take forward folds I feel encouraged to turn within and take a look at what’s going on inside.
Honesty… It’s definitely one of those things where when someone says, “Be honest with me,” I’m like, “Nah, no thanks.” It can be one of the hardest practices for me to follow on a daily basis, telling people how I really feel, what I really think, who I am. Usually I am preoccupied with doing whatever it takes to keep the peace, to avoid hurting others’ feelings and to avoid potential loss of community. Sometimes I don’t want to face the music.
What I find on my yoga mat is that whenever I am honest about my practice and what my body feels – whether it’s, “OK, you’ve actually got a lot in the tank, go for it” or “Hey, put your knees on the ground” – I feel space, breath, strength, openness and peace in my body and in y heart. Similarly off the mat, even though honest conversations can sometimes be uncomfortable for me, once I have them, there is a huge release. And even if I had to cry my eyes out, I tap into an amazing clarity for walking ahead on my journey.
