Day 15 Just Be Clothes Free Yoga Challenge
Just Be Free
Ah, Freedom. My yoga journey demonstrates time and again that freedom is not about being on my own. In fact, I have a tough time accessing freedom when I try to go it alone. It is when I allow excellent teachers and guides to step into my world that I begin to get free from the holds and locks inside me. These trusted teachers see things in me, and they help me to access what I could not touch on my own.
For this reason, I chose to express freedom today in Parivrtta Upavistha Konasana / Revolved Seated Angle Pose. My body has been quite tight and tense for the past month or so, and I thought I had lost access to flexibility and freedom. I have cried about it a lot in yoga classes lately, to be honest. Last night when practicing clothes free yoga, the cues from a skilled teacher on DVD set me free. The instruction was so specific, illustrating step by step how to safely open up. It spoke to the subtlest things like stretching the baby toes out, things I would not have thought of on my own. These tiny bits were the password for me to log back into my body. My entire lower body unlocked and came alive, and I breathed into the freedom of feeling again.
It was just such a great reminder for me that freedom is not about being alone and “making it on my own.” Trusted others can shine a light on my blind spots and help me do the work of unlocking, letting go and getting free.
