Women in San Francisco are getting naked in the city streets to protest slut shaming and the sexualization of their bodies.
March is Women’s History Month, and the body freedom activists are promoting their nude parade as an effort to change society’s sexist double standard women are forced to endure, according to MyNakedTruthTV.
Women are often treated as sex objects and at the same time shamed for wanting sexual freedom.
The nudists call themselves body freedom activists because they feel everyone should have the right to do with their bodies as they please, including selling it for sex, having an abortion, or going naked in public, according to MyNakedTruthTV.
Body freedom for women involves overcoming the obstacles of social prejudice, fear of judgment, fear of perceived violence and personal self hate. It’s about liberating ourselves from the constricting beliefs that were forced on us from infancy and throughout our lives.
This is the second naked parade in San Francisco that has been sanctioned by the city government since the nudity ban was passed in 2012. The law went into effect in the beginning of 2013, and a core group of body freedom activists, led by nudist Gypsy Taub, have been fighting it ever since
