Japan’s first ‘naked restaurant’ is set to open but only to guests within a certain weight range

Naked restaurant’ imposes ban on overweight diners

The restaurant, called the Amrita, has laid out a list of rules for patrons outlining age and weight restrictions.

Diners must be between the ages of 18 and 60 years old, and if they appear to be overweight, they will be weighed at the door and refused entry if they are outside the desired weight range.

“If you are more than 15 kilos (33lbs) above the average weight for your height, we ask you refrain from making a reservation,” the restaurant says on its website.

People visiting the restaurant must check in their clothing and wear paper underwear provided upon entry, and must pay in advance of their visit.

The price for a regular reservation is listed as 14,000 yen (€116), 18,000 yen (€149) or 28,000 yen (€232) depending on the menu selected.

Those who are deemed to be “overweight” will not be entitled to a refund.

Other rules state that patrons must lock their phones and cameras away before being ushered to their tables.
