Within the first 15 minutes of my three-day stint at the Cherokee Lodge nudist resort, as chronicled in this week’s cover story, it was clear that I was the only clothed person—also known as a “textile”—in the whole 240-acre spread. And apparently it got the nudies talking.
The Christian nudists who had taken over the resort for three days of praising Jesus au natural adhere to a few simple beliefs: Jesus loves them, their bodies are nothing to be ashamed of, God wants them to be nude and so on. And they’re relieved that they can escape the judgment of the outside world at places like Cherokee. There, people won’t evaluate what you wear—or don’t.
