Off with their threads: French naturists bare it all in woods and city (via South China Morning Post)

In Paris art museums the nudes will no longer be just on the walls, as naturists join ‘no clothes days’; they’ve done bare bowling, dined au naturel and this weekend they’re going trampolining at a city theme park. Whatever next?

After a nude yoga class in a Paris park and a “no clothes day” at the city’s trendiest art museum, hundreds of naturists are due to descend on a theme park near the French capital on Sunday for a spot of trampolining.

The Man Who Believed Nudity Should Be a Civil Right (via Smithsonian)

Turner V. Stokes, who died on Saturday at the age of 90, advocated for nudists’ ability to go about sans clothing

When he was 50 years old, Turner V. Stokes and his wife visited a nudist camp in Pennsylvania. Stokes quickly embraced a life spent in the buff; he became the head of several nudist organizations and advocated for nudists’ ability to go about sans clothing, which he viewed as a civil right.

As Kat Chow of NPR reports, Stokes died on Saturday at the age of 90. The cause of death was prostate cancer.

French nudists get cheeky with theme park and museum outings (via au.news.yahoo.com)

After a nude yoga class in a Paris park and a “no clothes day” at the city’s trendiest art museum, hundreds of naturists are due to descend on a theme park near the French capital Sunday for a spot of trampolining.

France may be the world’s top destination for naturist tourism — with up to four million people holidaying “au naturel” every year — but up until recently, French nudists have been rather more coy about shedding their clothes in the city.

“We used to think it better not to show ourselves too much,” said Cedric Amato, of the Paris naturism group ANP, which claims that the capital and its suburbs are home to as many as 88,000 nudists.

Body positive ESPN shoot garners praise around the world (via Newshub)

“This was more than just a photo shoot,” says softball player Lauren Chamberlain.

A US softball player has gained international praise after an inspiring body-positive photo shoot for the annual ESPN ‘Body Issue’.

The magazine’s yearly special issue always attracts attention, featuring athletes posting nude or semi-nude. In the past ex-All Black Malakai Fekitoa and tennis player Serena Williams have featured.

This year photos from Lauren Chamberlain’s shoot have been re-posted worldwide.

“It is safe to say that this was more than just a photo shoot,” the softball star wrote on Instagram.

“The softball star told ESPN she hoped these photos would create “honest conversation about our bodies, whatever they may look like, and that there is not one universal way to be”.

The 90-year-old leader of various nudist organizations died Saturday from prostate cancer in Nanjemoy, Md.

Born in Washington, D.C., in 1927, Stokes enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and later worked for military contractors testing electronic equipment.

He told the Washington Post’s Lee Hockstader in 1984 that when he was younger, he sometimes went skinny-dipping with his cousin in the Chesapeake Bay and remembered as a teenager seeing his first nudist magazine, called Sunshine and Health. But it wasn’t until he turned 50 that he persuaded his wife at the time to join him at a nudist camp in Pennsylvania.

Cambridge Professor Who Showed Up Naked to Dinner Says She Got ‘Verbal Abuse’ From Women (via pluralist.com)

“Women themselves try to undermine and discredit those of us who make decisions that differ from the norm.”

What surprised Cambridge Professor Victoria Bateman was not the amount of criticism she received, but how much of that criticism came from women.
Bateman made news last week when she arrived to a university function wearing nothing but a completely transparent leotard and evening shoes.

Athletes Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird appeared in ESPN’s iconic body issue.

Soccer player Megan Rapinoe and WNBA star Sue Bird just became the first openly gay couple to appear on the cover of ESPN’s iconic body issue.

“It’s important for people to come out. Visibility is important,” Rapinoe, 32, told ESPN’s Jemele Hill in an interview published Monday. “It’s important for there to be a first one on the cover [of the body issue], or whatever. Just in terms of the culture and society, someone has to do it.”

Rapinoe, a forward for the U.S. women’s national team, and Bird, a point guard for the Seattle Storm, made their relationship public last year. The two discussed just how honored they are to be the first openly gay couple featured in the body issue.

Things you can do naked in Plymouth this summer (via plymouthherald)

There’s never been a better time to take all your clothes off

The weather is heating up – and this summer is set to be a corker.

But when the sun is shining, clothes can become a bit restrictive, and keeping them on doesn’t seem like the most attractive option.

But some can get offended by people naked walking around in their birthday suit. So what else can you do?
