Friday, January 8, 2016, I left my sleepy little town and headed up to the Great Green North to attend the 8th Annual Winter Indoor Naturist Volleyball Tournament in London, Ontario at a place called Spikes Indoor Beach Volleyball. Spike looks like it used to be an old factory that someone purchased and then installed 4 regulation-size sand volleyball courts. One day per year, Spikes is reserved for naked volleyball.
Besides the 4 sand courts, Spikes also has several picnic tables where people can sit and socialize, watch the games, or eat the food served by Spikes snack bar. A photo of Spikes Indoor Volleyball can be seen below.

New balls please! Polish sports stars strip off for risqué calendar
After all their blood, sweat and tears in the gym, who could blame some of Poland’s hottest sports stars for wanting to strip off to show the fabulous results of all that hard work?
Some of the country’s hottest stars have gone as nature intended to reveal their chiselled physiques for a new charity photo project.
The stunning photos show the stars performing their sports, only this time in their birthday suits.
Skimpily dressed women are nothing new in Super Bowl ads. Godaddy saw to that. But a couple of companies have released Super Bowl ads with implied or actual nudity. See example below. Is this a good thing for the clothes free community. Take the poll share your thoughts.
‘Man & Mortar’ – photo series by Jason Paul, capturing fellow athlete parkour world champion Tim Shieff as he runs free around the city of London – naked. The prints are now exclusively available to buy on Beautiful Crime and the project is supported by The Naked Chef, Jamie Oliver, with a percentage of all print sales […]
An interesting examination of the clothes free fitness trend in Australia
A GLOBAL TREND WITH HISTORIC ROOTS
While exercising in the nude is enjoying an international revival, the Greeks were happily competing in track, field and martial arts without clothes 2500 years ago.
Historians seem divided on the actual reasons for the ancient clothes-free competitions. Some claim that rather than being the great leveller, having to compete nude separated the upper-classes from the working classes as the pampered rich were able to train more frequently and therefore look more ripped and have an all-over tan.
Whatever the ancient Greeks’ reasons for nuding up, a wave of global sports enthusiasts are again embracing the idea of naked events and exercise.
There have been nude bike rides in London; nude cross-fit classes attracted so much attention (both positive and negative) at a Danish gym, they had to be taken off the timetable; nude yoga classes are all the rage in New York, while across the US “nakations” (nude vacations) are growing in popularity
San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr went through the rules of the race announcing; no alcohol, no floats, no backpacks and no nudity.
“Nudity’s not okay and we’re not naïve that that might not happen, but deferring to those who might not have six packs, there are going to be kids and families,” he said.

It’s funny how the people that introduce you to nude recreation always hold a special place in your heart. That first day you wonder if you will be accepted and fit in. What will it feel like to be naked around a bunch of strangers in a strange place you’ve never visited before? The overwhelming feeling of freedom and peace can change your life.
About 4 years ago I met my future wife Stephanie. We had only dated a few weeks and it was time to “come out of the closet” about my love for running around naked. I was nervous because we had been getting along so well and I really was falling in love already. I had prepared for the moment for days. I had AANR brochures and practiced what I would say. I finally got up the courage to tell her. She had questions and needed reassurance but was very open minded and understanding.
After a conversation that probably only lasted a few minutes but seemed like hours we decided to visit Sunny Haven Recreation Park in Granger IN together in May. I thought my whole life was in the hands of this one weekend. If she didn’t enjoy herself, I’d likely not be able to enjoy nude recreation again.
We arrived at SHRP with some of our friends from Indiana Naturists. The people from Sunny Haven and Indiana Naturists went all out making sure she was comfortable and having fun. By the end of the weekend Stephanie was just as hooked as I am. A new nudist was born and boy was I relieved. 2 years later we joined Sunny Haven as full members and enjoy the club as often as we can.
We always wanted a way to give back to the club that welcomed us with open arms and did so much to help Stephanie in the beginning. One day as we enjoyed breakfast with Roger, the President of SHRP, he told us the story of how Sunny Haven got started. Long history lesson made short, SHRP was started because of a wager during a beach volleyball game. The bet was the losers had to play the next game naked. Lucky for all of us the losing team kept there word and played naked. They learned what we all know now. Just about everything you do is more fun when you do it naked. Eventually the owner of the land where SHRP sits was donated so everyone could come hang out naked whenever they wanted. Sunny Haven was born.
Before Roger finished the story, we knew how we would do our part to honor that day and our club. The Volley-Brawl was born with 3 specific purposes. 1. to honor the wonderful people of both Sunny Haven and Indiana Naturists and that magical weekend 4 years ago. 2. To help other families have the same experience that we had. 3. To keep the wonderful history of Sunny Haven alive.
In June we will celebrate our 3rd annual Volley-Brawl with our friends from Sunny Haven and Indiana Naturists. To some it’s just an excuse to goof off and be silly while raising money to help attract new families to nude recreation. To Steph and I it’s a way honor that one weekend in May 4 years ago that changed our lives forever.
Steph and I would like to invite you all to come join us on Saturday June 28th. Come play volleyball or be a cheerleader. We will be having a silent auction all day and everyone is encouraged to bring an item to auction and to bid on items. The money raised is dedicated to help attract new families to naturism.
