Conci explains the hardships she’s experienced in making the nudist film sequel Act Super Naturally and why she needs your help to finish the movie! There is a belief that if you’re actually working in the entertainment business, you’re rich. You shouldn’t need help. There’s an even stronger belief that if you’re making a sequel to a movie that did relatively well, you’ve got even more money
Neither of these beliefs are true. They can be, but they rarely are.
The movie Act Naturally found its core audience: the naturists. It’s a great introduction to people who are interested in social nudity, but don’t really understand the concept of de-sexualized social nudity. It’s a comedy, so we all know that the characters are going to be a little more amplified and, well, comedic.
Back in June, Jordan and I attended the annual NYC Pride Parade. It took place just two weeks after the horrific mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida in which 49 people were killed and dozens of others were injured. Yesterday (Monday, September 12) marks the 3-month anniversary of the massacre.
The parade was the biggest NYC has ever had. A record 32,000 marchers (last year saw 20,000) and over 400 groups participated.
At the very beginning, they commemorated the Pulse nightclub victims with a moment of silence. Later there were marchers dressed in white, displaying all the victims’ photos and names in a compelling tribute.

Project Runway All Stars recap: ‘Birthday Suits’
Project Runway All Stars has finally done it. They’ve figured out a way to make us giggle through an entire episode. As if 10 naked men and women standing next to Alyssa on the runway weren’t bad enough, the producers also had them walking around that whole place nude! But don’t call them nudists — they prefer “naturists.” I’m not going to body-shame these people; if they’re happy being in their natural state, good for them. But that doesn’t mean that when I see designers trying to take measurements of nude people, I won’t giggle like a 12-year-old. That is just funny.
Or maybe not funny for Alyssa. As she introduces the naturists and explains the challenge to the designers, she keeps a very straight face: She acts like it’s no big deal that she’s surrounded by 10 people in the buff. She even thanks them for doing this because she loves how it promotes a healthy body image. Alyssa is better than all of us.
Felicity writes about the experience of doing a naturist episode on Project Runway All Stars, Season 5. Brought to you by Young Naturists America.
One would think that naturism and fashion generally don’t mix but…
Of all the production company and TV network pitches we’ve gotten over the years (and there have been a ton of them), the invitation to be part of a fashion reality TV show was most unexpected and unusual.
Last June, Project Runway All Stars contacted us to be part of a special naturist episode. As previously described (and if you didn’t see it), the basic premise was that their group of designers would be challenged with making winter wear for naturists.
As with any TV casting call we get, we approached this opportunity with a fair amount of caution. We wanted to be sure it wasn’t going to be just another bad gimmick with lots of cheap jokes made at our expense.
At first we did not think this would be a project for YNA, but after speaking at length with the executive producer about the episode and casting, we were on board. The producer reassured us that it would be positive and respectful and a big reason for our agreement to do it was that Alyssa Milano hosts the show.

Naturists Speak Out Against Ban on Nudist Events at Huntington Beach City Council Meeting
At the city council meeting, nudists held up signs demanding the rescinding of the new regulation, known as AR704. Six speakers spoke against the regulation during the public comment period of the meeting. Each speaker had 3 minutes to address the meeting. Both Ron Mercer and Gregg Gatewood spoke eloquently that it was unfair for someone in power to impose their personal feelings arbitrarily onto an event that had demonstrated over the years a positive social and economic benefit to the community.
